Why We Chase the Cold
If you are reading this, you are probably tired of sweating.
For decades, the travel industry has sold us a single dream: “Sun, Sand, and Summer.” We are told to chase the heat, tan on crowded beaches, and book “sun-drenched” villas in the Mediterranean.
But the world is changing. Summers are getting hotter. “Sun-drenched” now means 40°C (104°F). “Vibrant” cities are noisy, crowded ovens. And that charming historic hotel room you booked? It turns into a greenhouse because it doesn’t have air conditioning.
We believe that true luxury is no longer about gold taps or infinity pools. True luxury is Silence, Darkness, and 18°C (64°F) Air.
That is why FrostyWander exists.
The Problem with Modern Travel
Most travel blogs are designed to sell you a fantasy. They use words like “breezy” and “atmospheric,” but they ignore the physics of comfort.
- They don’t tell you that the “Climate Control” in a Scandinavian hotel is just a passive vent that doesn’t cool the air.
- They don’t tell you that the “Midnight Sun” will blast through your thin curtains at 3:00 AM, wrecking your sleep.
- They don’t tell you that “central location” means 60 decibels of traffic noise all night long.
The “Data Void” Approach
We are not influencers. We don’t take free stays in exchange for positive reviews.
We are Auditors.
We approach travel like a software problem. We look for the bugs—the heat traps, the light leaks, and the noise pollution—and we patch them with data.
Our 3 Core Pillars:
- Verified Temperature: We don’t trust the “Amenities” list. We investigate the HVAC specs of hotels to find out which ones actually have compressor-based air conditioning.
- Light Physics: We test gear and curtains against the Midnight Sun. If a sleep mask leaks light, it goes in the trash.
- The Science of Sleep: We rank destinations based on noise maps, crowd density, and sleep quality, not just “Instagrammability.”
Who is Behind This?
I am a software developer and a heat-intolerant traveler.
After spending too many sleepless nights in “luxury” European hotels that felt like saunas, I realized that the travel industry had a data problem. The information I needed—specs, temperatures, noise levels—was missing.
So, I built FrostyWander to fill that void.
I use my background in tech to scrape data, analyze weather patterns, and audit hotel infrastructure so you don’t have to.
